Here are some Best Practices for Handling Student Information: Stay aware of what you're sharing
Don’t provide anyone with lists of students enrolled in your classes for any purpose.
Do pass along information about jobs, research, and scholarships to students (if applicable); let the students contact the company or foundation.
Don’t discuss the progress of any student with anyone other than the student (including parents and spouses) without the consent of the student.
Do remind colleagues and others that students have easy access to unofficial transcripts through the Web and can bring/send that information.
Don’t provide anyone with student schedule information or help anyone other than University employees with a legitimate business purpose find a student on campus.
Do refer people to the Dean of Students’ Office or Campus Police or equivalent Branch Department.
