The following information cannot be given out:

• Personal Phone Number
• Home Address
• Birthdate
• Social Security Number
• Financial Details beyond Salary
• Other Personal Information without Written Consent
  • Ethnicity
  • Citizenship
  • Citizen Visa Code
  • Veteran and Disability Status
  • Personnel Records (Evaluations/Disciplinary)

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), sets forth the legal requirements for the privacy and security of patient data maintained by health care providers. At the University of New Mexico, the Health Sciences Center and all associated healthcare programs are required to be HIPAA compliant.
